The Process
The process is entirely personal, yet streamlined service, creating suits, sports coats, trousers and overcoats for both men and women of impeccable quality to individual needs and personal taste.
The service creates a perfectly tailored suit within a few short weeks. The process:
The client selects the cloth, lining, buttons, keeping in mind the particular style envisioned, such as a two or three-button single breasted coat or a four or six-button double breasted coat.
Measurements are carefully taken by the cutter, who will also take in to account all the characteristics of the individual’s physique such as posture, the roll of the shoulders and any minute variations in the lengths of the arms.
Once the cloth has been delivered to our workroom, the pattern is laid out on the cloth and chalked around. The cloth is then cut by hand, creating all the individual panels for the garment. At this stage, our cutter purposely leave extra cloth at the inlays to allow the suit to be altered at a future date should the client’s weight change.
The suit is then assembled and canvassed by hand and readied for the first fitting. During the first fitting, the tailor begins to make adjustments to the suit to the client’s posture.
After the first fitting, the garment is completely taken apart, pressed and re-cut, taking in to account any necessary adjustments. Once marking up has been done to the tailor’s satisfaction, the suit is then prepared for the second fitting.
Once again, the suit is dismantled in order to make the final alterations. The suit is at long last ready to be put back together and finished by hand. The pockets, collar and sleeves are sewn in, and the felling and edge stitching is completed. The lapels are hand rolled so that it flows down from shoulder to top button. On a well-made suit, the lapel and chest canvases are stitched together so that the lapel stands slightly proud.
As the tailor finishes the suit inside and out, he creates a one-of-a-kind garment that gives a unique look to every client. All finishing is done at the Annandale premises , where the client will return to see the finished suit for the first time at the imperative final fitting.
Finally, advice is given to the customer on how best to care for the suit and maintain its shape.
