The definition of the word bespoke comes from bespoken – giving the characteristic of choice. This in tailoring terms means to design clothing from a blank canvas, the client adding his own individual choice of styling to those of the skilled cutter.
Henry Poole, Savile Row
Bespoke is a term, which dates from the 17th century, when tailors held the full lengths of cloth on their premises. When a customer chose a length of material it was said to have “been spoken for”, hence a tailor who makes your clothes individually to your specific personal requirements, is called bespoke.
Why bespoke?
Stitch by Stitch would like you to experience wearing a garment made exclusively for you. After choosing from our wide selection of super soft fabrics, we will create a garment that fits perfectly, offers you unrivalled cut, comfort and quality.
Each garment is made according to strict traditions that are respected by Europe’s finest master tailors. Our jackets incorporate a floating, lightweight chest canvas and the finest quality interlinings. Canvasses are stitched together by machine, which gives a firmer feel, with a fusible interlining used in the body of the jacket. The armholes, lapels, collars and sleeves are hand shaped and set into the garment. Trousers are lined to the knee, have waistband grip pads, reinforced pocketing and double crutch pieces for superior durability and comfort.
All garments are hand made at our premises in Annandale, Sydney.
Fittings are given part way through the construction process, not adjusted at the end of the making process – like many of our competitors.
